UK weather maps turn ‘Scorchio’ this week with temperatures higher than Ibiza and Corfu in some cities according to the Met Office, a sure sign Spring is headed our way
The first signs of Spring could be upon us with temperatures predicted to reach 21C later this week according to a Met Office forecast.
London is expected to enjoy a sunny start to the week with bright spells across Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday (March 18 – 20) with temperatures starting to climb during the latter two days. England’s capital is expected to enjoy warmer weather than popular holiday destinations such as Corfu and Ibiza which are forecasted to be 16C and 17C, respectively.
The Met Office has earmarked a high of 11C for Tuesday, despite having plenty of sun, but expects this to rise to 18C on Wednesday by a further three degrees the following day. Most of the UK can look forward to an uptick in temperature, with northern Scotland even anticipating 19C on Wednesday according to BBC’s weather report.

The Met Office concludes there is “plenty of sunshine in the coming days and turning warmer,” for London but warns this could turn to “chilly overnight with frosts developing. Largely dry, but an increasing chance of rain through Friday.”
“We’re expecting quite a lot of dry weather, increasing amounts of sunshine as we head through the next few days. By Wednesday, we’re looking at highs of about 17C in the South. And then on Thursday, we could get as high as 19C,” Explained Met Office meteorologist, Becky Mitchell.
Long-term, the forecast predicts up-and-down temperatures, with the aforementioned Scottish Highlands expected to endure lows of -3C with sleet showers on Thursday, just hours after highs of 19C.
But, London’s luck should last the entire week, according to the Met Office who predict highs of 18C on Friday and 15C on Saturday. Other major cities such as Cardiff, Bristol and Manchester are also slated for 20C highs throughout the week.
